Oudna

About 20km due south of Tunis off the C36 road to Zaghouan is the Roman site of Oudna, or Uthina. This is not one of the great Roman sites and it is still more of an archaeological dig than a tourist attraction. However, in the 2C AD it was a flourishing town and the excavations are unearthing some interesting finds. Several fine mosaics have been dispatched to the Bardo Museum in Tunis, and there are the remains of a substantial amphitheatre, the public baths, some cisterns and about twenty villas.
